So much fun! Love my pro. Everything I hoped it would be. High quality
Loving my babymaker!!
I’ve owned my BM for almost 4 months and have suggestions on how you can extend your ride, battery, etc. I want to thank Mark the mechanic at FLX as well.
1. Fully charge the battery the first few times - I mean 6 hours minimum. And, charge the battery fully before you ride every ride. This avoids error messages (I’ve had a couple).
2. When you are slowing done to a Stop sign or Stop light, throttle/shift down to power level 1. Then, when you start riding, you can shift up to whatever power level suits your ride, grade, etc. If you were to start at level 3 or greater from a dead stop, you’re using up more battery juice. So start at 1, then go to 2, 3, and so on.
3. Keep a constant pedal pressure. I found that even at Level 4 or 5, if I keep a constant and steady pedal pressure (not hammering all out, but not just letting the wheels spin), my battery life did not diminish as much as simply letting the bike power take over.
4. If you see a drop in a power level bar, shift down one or two levels (for ex., from level 4 to 3) and with constant pedal pressure, your missing bar will reappear.
I ride road bikes, used to race, and I love the BM for the simple fact that it gives me an alternative way to commute and plus it’s a lot of fun. As someone has said - “you can’t take the smile off my face.”
Ok, this bike has ruined other bikes for me. It is so fun to ride. I am an avid commuter cyclist and use to do 100 miles a week no problem. This bike is so much fun to ride, I don' think I can go back. It is such a quiet bike, people don't even know you are coming up behind them. It is also VERY fast. The first time you are in level 5, it throws you back in the seat. I wish there was a 4.5-star option. The only issue I have with the bike is the battery life. I get about 20 miles on a full charge, which is fine most of the time, but this bike is FUN and I want to take it out all day which could easily be 40 to 100 miles of I am just cruising around town. If there is ever an extended battery option I will buy it and this will be a 5-star bike hands down. HIGHLY RECOMMEND owning one of these!!!
Great looking and fun to ride. Electric assist is super helpful for navigating stress points in my suburban commute like bridges over train tracks. The bike is great for last mile connections to transit and eats up hills so I don' get sweaty getting to the office. The assist actually increases my cadence and I get a better workout when trying to get exercise.
Carbon Gates Belt Drive
The single-speed Belt Drive system is quieter than a mouse walking on cotton. It doesn’t require grease or the maintenance a normal bike chain needs and is built to last 3-4x as long.
Dual Piston Hydraulic Disc Brakes
Don’t settle for cheap mechanical disc brakes. A powerful bike should have the most powerful brakes to keep your safety a priority. The Magura MT Sports offer outstanding braking force that’s perfect for city streets, neighborhood hills, or the park trails.
The 350 Watt Motor is discretely placed in the hub of the rear wheel. Don’t let its size fool you - this bad boy packs a punch and will have you tackling hills you never thought ridable on a single speed.
The Babymakers frame is made of 60/61 Aircraft-grade Aluminum giving it an excellent strength to weight ratio. Couple this with the smooth welds and minimalist design and you get a bike that will turn heads for sure (and that’s even before you tell them it’s electric).
The Babymaker is powered by a 36V 7Ah Battery that is completely hidden in the downtube of the bike. You can expect 15-50 miles on a full charge!
